Alabama teens in custody after parent reportedly finds items stolen from area cars in son’s bedroom

Two 16-year-old boys are in custody after they reportedly broke into dozens of cars stealing two hand guns, cell phones, credit cards, medications, a laptop, a passport, and other items worth thousands of dollars.

WKRG News in Mobile reports that police were alerted by a concerned mother Tuesday who reportedly found some of the stolen items in her teenage son’s bedroom.

On Monday and Tuesday, police received numerous reports from residents in the area of Grand Pointe Apartments and the Lake Forest area about cars being broken into.

Police say the two teens are now in custody and are facing multiple charges.

WKTG reports that  78 cars have been broken into in the City of Daphne this year. All but six of them were unlocked, police report. Twelve guns were stolen from unlocked cars. Only three of those guns have been recovered.
