Man fleeing Alabama trooper killed when car flips, ejecting him

A man fleeing an Alabama state trooper was killed Friday night when his car left the road and flipped over ejecting the man.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:32 p.m. Friday, and claimed the life of a Loretto, Tenn., man.

Christian W. Hatchett, 49, was fatally injured when the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving left the roadway and overturned, Alabama state troopers said.

Hatchett was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. Hatchett was attempting to elude a trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division before the crash occurred.

The crash occurred on Lauderdale 33, approximately 8 miles north of Killen, in Lauderdale County.
