Alabama teen killed in Thanksgiving Day accident

An Alabama teen was killed early Thanksgiving Day when his car left the road, overturned and struck a utility pole, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:09 a.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a Decatur, Alabama, man.

Wiliam A. Owens Jr., 19, was fatally injured when the 2014 Dodge Challenger that he was driving left the roadway, overturned and struck a utility pole, Alabama state troopers reported.

Owens was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene, investigators said.

The crash occurred on Lawrence County 222, approximately 3 miles east of Trinity, in Lawrence County.
