An Alabama man was killed late Wednesday night when his car collided with another vehicle on a state highway, troopers reported.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, and claimed the life of a Tuscumbia, Alabama, man.

Jimmie D. Smallwood, 76, was fatally injured when the 2005 Ford Freestyle that he was driving was struck by the 2016 Nissan Rogue driven by Emma C. Snipes, 24, also of Tuscumbia.

Smallwood was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on Alabama 20 near the 30 mile marker, approximately 3 miles southeast of Muscle Shoals, in Colbert County.
