Woman killed when tractor trailer hits car, causes it to overturn, Alabama troopers say

A woman was killed early Tuesday in Alabama when the vehicle in which she was riding was truck by a tractor trailer, causing the car to flip over, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, and claimed the life of a Grand Prairie, Texas, woman.

Bailey N. Kirton, 20, was critically injured when the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan that she was a passenger in was struck by the 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Lioandys M. Brito, 28, of Phoenix, Arizona.

After the initial crash, the Volkswagen left the roadway and overturned.

Kirton and the driver of the Volkswagen, Christpher D. Kirton, 53, also of Grand Prairie, Texas, were both transported to Parkway Medical Center in Decatur, where Bailey N. Kirton succumbed to injuries sustained and was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on Alabama 20 near the 55 mile marker, approximately 2 miles northwest of Hillsboro, in Lawrence County.
