Alabama Skies: Stormy weather continues Tuesday

After several hours of some rough weather, some areas of the state will continue having storms with a risk of severe weather throughout the day Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center, central Alabama from Birmingham to Montgomery is under a Level 1 risk for severe storms Tuesday. Storms won’t move out of the eastern part of the state until 2 p.m. or so. Damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour and a couple brief tornadoes are possible.

A Level 2 risk covers the region from Montgomery southward towards the beach communities. In this Level 2, tornadoes are possible, along with damaging winds.

Once we get the system gone later Tuesday afternoon, we’ll be much cooler.

North Alabama

Mostly cloudy with a few showers and storms. High of 64. Wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour. Mostly cloudy Tuesday night with a slight chance of a shower. Low of 44.

Central Alabama

A shower or thunderstorm in the morning, then a slight chance of a shower in the afternoon. High of 69. Cloudy overnight with a slight chance of a shower. Low of 46.

South Alabama

Showers and thunderstorms with a high of 70. Cloudy Tuesday night with a slight chance of a shower. Low of 46.

Gulf Coast

Showers and storms in the morning, then showers. A few storms could be severe. High of 74. Mostly cloudy overnight with a chance of a few showers. Low of 50.
