As people across Alabama enjoy a gorgeous day, spending a few minutes to check on those dormant severe weather kits wouldn’t be a bad idea.

The forecast involving the front we’ve been watching the past few days is starting to come more into focus.

For central Alabama, the National Weather Service released this statement:

“There is a Marginal Risk of severe weather late Monday night into Tuesday afternoon. Main threats will be damaging winds and a brief tornado possible.”

And, for southern Alabama:

“There is the potential for some strong to severe storms Monday night over southeast Mississippi and extreme southwestern Alabama. Severe storms that develop will be capable of wind gusts to 60 mph, and a tornado cannot be ruled out.”

The chances for severe weather are Levels 1 and 2. Although low on the 1 to 5 scale, we are also looking at the possibility of some decent rain chances Monday night and Tuesday.

Looking ahead, Thanksgiving should be cool and sunny.
