The 5-year-old Alabama girl found dead Monday morning in a laundry hamper has been identified, and authorities said the cause of her death is still under investigation.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bill Yates identified the girl as Khloe Teresa Williamson, 5, of Trussville.

Investigators said Williamson was found unresponsive in a laundry hamper early Monday morning in their family home in the 6200 block of Kestral View Road in Trussville, Alabama.

Williamson was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Yates said an autopsy was performed on Monday, but the cause of death was pending additional laboratory studies.

Trussville police are investigating the circumstances around Williamson’s death.
