An Alabama bicyclist was struck and killed Thursday night by a driver who left the scene, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash involved a bicyclist at approximately 6:46 p.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a Hanceville, Alabama, man.

Dakota R. Lamons, 19, was fatally injured when the bicycle that he was operating was struck by a vehicle.

After the initial impact, Lamon was thrown off the bicycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The vehicle left the scene and the exact vehicle type, as well as the driver is still unknown.

The crash occurred on Alabama 91 near Cullman County 501, approximately 8 miles south of Hanceville, in Cullman County.

The vehicle is believed to be a 2007-2014 white Chevrolet Silverado or a GMC Sierra with the entire passenger side black mirror missing from the vehicle.
