An Alabama couple have been formally charged in the death of their son and disposing of his body in a freezer, a county sheriff said on Monday.
The bizarre case started on October 29, when the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division opened an investigation on the death of Logan Michael Halstead, 19, of Headland, Alabama.
Logan Halstead’s body was located in a freezer at a residence on Bradford Drive in Headland, Alabama.
On October 29th, Michael Shane Halstead, 44, of Headland, and Karen Tysinger Halstead, 43, of Jack, Alabama were arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse and were transported to the Henry County Jail.
On November 6th, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office obtained warrants on both Michael and Karen Halstead for manslaughter in the death of Logan Halstead.
Michael Halstead is being held in the Henry County Jail on a $175,000 bond for abuse of a corpse and a $100,000 bond for manslaughter.
Karen Halstead is being held in the Henry County Jail on a $30,000 bond for abuse of a corpse and $60,000 bond for manslaughter.
“This case is still on going and more charges could arise as the investigation continues,” Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship said. “I would like to personally commend the investigators for the job they have done since taking over the case on October 29th. This is a very complicated case and our agency is committed to seeking justice for Logan’s death. Information will continue to be released as the case progresses.”
