An Alabama man and woman were killed last week in a multi-vehicle, chain reaction accident when they were ejected from their vehicle.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 3:31 p.m. Tuesday, and claimed the lives of a Troy man and woman.

Chloe Nichol Hardy, 19, was fatally injured when the 1997 Toyota 4-Runner that she was driving was struck by the 2000 GMC C1500 driven by Albert James Grubbs, 58, of Clayton.

After the initial collision, the 4-Runner collided head-on with the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Warren Joseph Day, 35, of Luverne and later collided head-on with the 2012 Ford F-250 driven by Joshua Adam Karsten, 34, of Ariton.

Hardy and a passenger in the 4-Runner, Edward Olanda Hardy, II, 22, also of Troy, were not using seatbelts at the time of the crash, were ejected and both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Day and Karsten were injured and transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on U.S. 231 near the 175 mile marker, approximately 3 miles south of Troy city limits, in Pike County.
