Man ejected, killed when truck strikes concrete barrier, flips over, state troopers say

A man was killed this week when the truck in which he was riding struck a concrete barrier and overturned, ejecting the man from the truck, Alabama state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 4:42 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, and claimed the life of a Hampton, Georgia, man.

Ignacio B. Luisa, 30, was fatally injured when the 2000 Ford F-350 pickup in which he was a passenger left the roadway, struck a concrete barrier and overturned.

Luisa was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene, state troopers said.

Marco Antonio Del Los Santos, 19, of Hampton Georgia, also a passenger in the pickup, was injured and transported to East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika for treatment. The driver, Esteban Igancio-Olaguna, 37, also of Hampton, Georgia, was not injured during the crash.

The crash occurred on Interstate 85 near the 68 mile marker, approximately 7 miles north of Opelika, Alabama, in Lee County.
