An Alabama was killed Sunday morning when he struck a deer with his motorcycle, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 12:11 a.m. Sunday, and has claimed the life of a New Hope, Alabama, man.

William R. Pruitt, 68, was critically injured when the 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that he was operating struck a deer.

Pruitt was thrown from the motorcycle and transported to Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, where he succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on Paint Rock Road, approximately 4 miles east of New Hope, in Madison County.
