Alabama man killed in interstate crash, troopers say

An Alabama man was killed early Friday when his car was struck on a stretch of interstate, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 5:40 a.m. Friday, and claimed the life of a Carbon Hill, Alabama, man.

Leonard L. Beck, 83, was fatally injured when the 2003 Toyota Avalon that he was driving was struck by the 2013 Ford Escape driven by Katia C. Oliveira, 66, of Kansas City, Kansas.

The Toyota was parked in the roadway after being involved in a previous crash moments prior to being struck by the Ford.

Beck was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Interstate 22 near the 78 mile marker, approximately 3 miles south of Dora, in Walker County.
