Alabama Skies: Finally, rain chances arrive for Thursday weather; new storm forms in Tropics

Our rain chances we’ve been expecting all week finally arrive Thursday and Thursday night, but the chances are not as great as they were in earlier models. Only central Alabama has the “showers likely” tag.

We also have a chance for some isolated to scattered thunderstorms for most Alabama communities. These storms could have brief heavy rain and strong wind, but the tornado chance is very low.

We now have Tropical Storm Tammy in the Atlantic Ocean. Right now, we’re expecting the front that’s bringing us some rain chances to eventually turn Tammy to the north, away from the United States.

North Alabama

Mostly cloudy early, then becoming sunny. A slight chance of a shower in the late afternoon. Windy with a high of 71. A shower or storm is possible in the evening and overnight. Low of 53.

Central Alabama

Partly sunny with a high of 73. Showers becoming likely in the evening with a storm possible overnight. Low of 56.

South Alabama

Mostly sunny and breezy with a high of 75. A chance of showers in the evening with storms becoming possible overnight. Low of 55.

Gulf Coast

Mostly sunny with a high of 76. Partly cloudy Thursday night with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm overnight. Low of 60.
