An Alabama woman was found dead in a ditch on Monday morning prompting an investigation into her murder, a coroner said.

Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent wrote on social media Monday that his office was called to a location on J.W. Darnell Road in Guntersville, Alabama, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday after a woman was found dead in a ditch.

The woman was identified as Faleisha Thompson, 42, of Athens, Alabama, Nugent wrote.

Nugent said the Guntersville police were investigating Thompson’s death as a homicide.
