An Alabama woman was killed Saturday when her small car collided, head-on with a tractor-trailer truck, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 8:14 a.m. Saturday, and claimed the life of a Camp Hill, Alabama, woman.

Laverne P. Brooks, 61, was fatally injured when the 2010 Honda Civic she was driving collided head-on with the 2011 Mack tractor-trailer driven by Allen O. Higgins, 62, of Roanoke.

Brooks was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred Chambers County 48 near Chambers County 44, approximately 9 miles west of LaFayette, in Chambers County.
