An Alabama man walking on a road who was killed Sunday after being struck by a motorist has been identified.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the victim was identified as Geremy Earl Fantroy, 43, of Birmingham.

Fantroy was killed sometime late Sunday in the 1700 block of Bessemer Road, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:50 p.m., the coroner’s office reported.

The driver who struck Fantroy fled the scene. Birmingham police are investigating the incident.
