An Alabama man was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a vehicle, authorities said.

The man, who was only identified as a 43-year-old black male as officials were working to locate his family, was killed in the 1700 block of Bessemer Road in Birmingham.

Authorities found the man and pronounced him dead at approximately 11:50 p.m.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the Birmingham police are investigating the incident. The driver reportedly left the scene.
