An Alabama 15-year-old was killed Thursday morning as the student was struck by a pickup truck that veered off the road and struck the child who was awaiting a school bus.

The teen was in the front yard of their residence at approximately 7:30 a.m. when a Nissan Frontier veered off the road and into the yard, striking the teen.

The crash happened on U.S. 231 approximately 4 miles north of Ashville.

Blount County Schools officials confirmed the fatal wreck in a social media post.
