An Alabama pedestrian was killed Tuesday night when she was struck by a vehicle as she walked along the edge of a road, authorities said.

The woman, who has not yet been publicly identified was reportedly walking along the edge of Daniel Payne Drive in Birmingham when she was struck by a passing motorist.

The driver of the vehicle stopped, called 911 and remained on the scene, authorities said.

Jefferson County Coroner’s Office officials said the victim was an adult white female. The accident happened at approximately 9:17 p.m. and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 9:34 p.m.
