A Texas man who was found in a 15-year-old Alabama girl’s bedroom by her mother was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
De’Airo DeShawn Bryant, 30, admitted in court earlier this week to electronic solicitation of a child he had met on an social media instant messaging app.
The girl was 15 at the time, Bryant was 27.
Prosecutors said Bryant traveled from Texas to Fayette County, Alabama, for the purpose of having sex with the 15-year-old.
The girl’s mother discovered Bryant in her daughter’s bedroom on August 2, 2020, and subsequently called the police.
“This sentence serves as a stark reminder that those who exploit and prey upon vulnerable minors will be held accountable for their actions,” District Attorney Andy Hamlin said. “In this case, a 15-year-old was targeted by an individual who traveled across state lines with the intent of engaging in criminal and predatory behavior. This should send a powerful message that we will vigorously pursue and prosecute those who seek to harm children.”
