An Alabama man has been charged with breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s house and assaulting the family and killing their dog.

Nicholas Lynch, 29, was charged with a number of charges including attempted murder, third-degree assault, first-degree domestic violence-burglary and aggravated cruelty to animals.

The incident happened at approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday when Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a residence in Moundville.

There they say Lynch broke into his ex-girlfriend’s residence on Greymont Boulevard. Inside he assaulted a man inside, who police believe was the resident’s new boyfriend, along with her two young children.
