Two people, including child, injured when freight train strikes car, Alabama trooper say

Two people were injured Wednesday night when their car was struck by a freight train, Alabama state troopers said.

The crash involving a train occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, and resulted in the injury of two people.

Gwendolyn D. Enzlow, 49, of Montgomery was injured when the 2014 Nissan Cube she was driving was struck at a railroad crossing by a Norfolk Southern train.

Enzlow was transported to Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia, for treatment.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 6-year-old, also of Montgomery, was injured and transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on Lee County 633 near U.S. 280, approximately 7 miles east of Opelika, in Lee County.
