Investigators are seeking the public’s help to locate next of kin to a pedestrian struck and killed earlier this week on a stretch of interstate in Alabama.

Officials with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said Thursday that the victim had been identified as Malcolm Lemoyne Love, 36.

Love was killed at approximately 7:18 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 65 at Fourth Avenue South. Investigators said Love was walking in the interstate when he was struck by a vehicle and was killed. The driver did not stop.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said all efforts to find Love’s family have been unsuccessful.

Love apparently had some connections in Tuscaloosa and had in his possession at the time of his death a Greyhound bus ticket from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham, dated September 25, the day prior to his death.

Yates said investigators believe Love was from Detroit, but ancestry searches of that area also have proven unsuccessful.

Anyone who might know Love or his family members is asked to call the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office at 205-930-3603.
