An observant Alabama school teacher’s intuition led to a Florida man being arrested and charged with rape and several other charges after he was found pretending to be a student so he could ride on a school bus, police said.
Enterprise police said Dennis Wimberly, 23, of Pompano, Florida, was arrested and charged with second-degree rape, trespassing of a school bus, transmitting obscene material to a child and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wimberly was transported to the Coffee County jail after arrest.
The incident happened at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Officers were called to Enterprise High School after an alert teacher discovered a non-student impersonating himself as a student on a school bus.
Enterprise Police’s school resource officers were immediately notified and contacted the subject while on the bus. The 23-year-old male suspect was taken into custody.
After further investigation, police detectives discovered the suspect arranged to meet a 15-year-old female student at the school who assisted him with getting onto the bus.
After further investigation, detectives found that the victim and the suspect had a previous sexual encounter and transmitted obscene material via cell phone.
