An Alabama man has been charged with murder after investigators said he attacked his mother and his step-father on Friday.

Timothy Ray Graves has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder, Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon said.

Graves is accused of attacking Teresa Ann Haston and her husband Kenneth Joe Haston, both of Marbury, Alabama, the sheriff said.

Mrs. Haston died Sunday of her injuries, Mr. Haston remained in serious condition in a local hospital.

Although the initial caller suggested to the emergency dispatcher that the victims had been shot, sheriff’s office investigators say they found no evidence that their injuries were as a result of being shot.
