A man was killed Wednesday in Alabama when his 18-wheeler left the road, flipped over and caught fire, state troopers reported.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 4:57 p.m. Wednesday, and claimed the life of a McLeansboro, Ill., man.

David Golden, 64, was fatally injured when the 2009 Freightliner tractor-trailer that he was driving left the roadway, overturned and caught fire, Alabama state troopers said.

Golden was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Interstate 22 near the 6 mile marker, approximately five miles west of Hamilton, in Marion County.
