An Alabama police officer was severely injured in a crash during a pursuit Wednesday afternoon.

A pursuit involving Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division and Special Agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) occurred at approximately 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20.

The pursuit began when an ALEA Trooper attempted to stop a grey Dodge Charger for a tag violation on Narrow Lane Road near Audubon Road inside the city limits of Montgomery. The stop was part of a joint operation with the Montgomery Police Department which targets stolen vehicles, ATVs, as well as reckless or exhibition driving.

The driver, who was later identified as Richard Moore, 35, of Montgomery, refused to stop and subsequently, a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit continued onto East Third Street where the Charger struck a Montgomery Police Department patrol vehicle driven by Officer D’Anthony Green, who was responding to assist.

Moore was immediately apprehended following the crash.

Officer Green, who was unresponsive at the scene, was transported to Jackson Hospital for medical treatment. Green has since become responsive at the hospital where he is being treated.

Breanna Renea Campbell, 20, Tamira Latrice Tolliver, 19, and a two-year-old child were all passengers in the Charger. Campbell and Tolliver were transported to Baptist Medical Center South for treatment and the two-year-old child was also transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

Moore was arrested and charged with Felony Attempting to Elude, First-Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
