Alabama man killed when car hits rock embankment, plunges into river

An Alabama man was killed early Tuesday when his car left the road, struck a rock embankment and then plunged into a river, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday, and claimed the life of a Decatur, Alabama, man.

Anthony C. Williams, 39, was fatally injured when the 2016 Ford Escape that he was driving left the roadway, struck a rock embankment and entered the Tennessee River.

Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene, state troopers said.

The crash occurred on Rockhouse Road near Refuge Road, approximately 4 miles east of Decatur, in Limestone County.
