A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier was killed in a two-vehicle accident on a rural Alabama highway Friday.

According to the River Falls Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:57 a.m. to the two-vehicle collision on Alabama Hwy. 55 North, about 1 mile north of the Hwy. 84 intersection.

River Falls Police Chief Kyle Adams said his department, in collaboration with Alabama State Troopers, is “diligently pursuing an ongoing investigation into the incident.”

The postal driver killed in the accident was Hannah Denae Lindsey, 32.

She was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina. The driver of the second vehicle involved, a Dodge Ram, was not injured.

Preliminary findings suggest that both vehicles were traveling southbound on Hwy. 55 when the accident unfolded.

“Our dedicated team of law enforcement officers are currently working to uncover all aspects of this unfortunate event,” Adams said. “We would like to extend our gratitude to the River Falls Fire Department, the Covington County Emergency Management Agency, the Alabama State Troopers, and the Covington County Sheriff’s Office for their invaluable assistance.
