Man jailed for allegedly being drunk now accused of biting, grabbing at jailer’s private parts, deputies say

A man accused of being publicly intoxicated had additional criminal charges assessed against him after he allegedly assaulted a jailer by biting the officer and trying to grab the officer’s genitals, sheriff’s deputies said.
Miles Rea Batson, 39, of Centerville, Virginia, was arrested by Hartselle police Tuesday on charges he was publicly intoxicated, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Batson was taken to the Morgan County Jail where, deputies allege, he became disorderly and combative with corrections officers; attempting to grab private parts and ultimately biting a corrections officer’s thumb.
The bitten officer was treated at Decatur Morgan Hospital for the human bite, which broke the skin and is currently recovering.
Deputies and investigators were notified and responded to the jail. CID Sgt John Dickson obtained a warrant for assault 2nd Degree. Bond $51,000
