An Alabama man won $1 million from the Publisher’s Clearing Sweepstakes, but wasn’t home when the famous prize patrol came knocking on his door.
Edwin Walker of Albertville was working when Howie Guja and a camera crew showed up as his door with a giant million-dollar check and a bottle of champagne.
A neighbor spotted the commotion and shouted, “He’s at work! Is this for real?”
As a crowd of neighbors begin filing the streets, some of them called the trucking company where Walker worked and his boss told him to finish up his delivery and return to the office.
After getting out of his truck and seeing the big check with his name on it, Walker was overcome with emotion, Guja said.
“Thank you. It’s hard to put into words how thankful I am,” Walker said. “This is unbelievable. I’m shaking and holdin’ back tears!”
Asked what he’ll do with his prize winnings, Walker said he wanted to make some home repairs, help out some family members and donate to his church.
