Two teens charged in Alabama city’s 17th murder of 2023

A 14-year-old and 17-year-old have been arrested and charged with capital murder in one Alabama city’s 17th murder of 2023.

The Selma Police Department (SPD) is investigating its second homicide in three days.

According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, officers were dispatched to the 2800 Block of Citizens Parkway around 7 p.m. Monday night regarding a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, SPD officers observed a 46-year-old, unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was later pronounced deceased by EMS.

The incident is the 17th murder of 2023 in Selma.

Fulford said later that night that the Criminal Investigation Division located two suspects, a 17-year-old male and a 14-year-old male and are charging both with capital murder.

Fulford thanked the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the community for their assistance in this case.

The incident remains under investigation. Fulford asks anyone who has information regarding this event, to contact the SPD.
