Sunday crash claims life of Alabama couple, one child. Second child transported to hospital with serious injuries

A Sunday crash has claimed the lives of an Alabama couple and one of their two children who were in the vehicle at the time of the wreck.

The other child is recovering from serious injuries in an Atlanta hospital.

The wreck happened Sunday evening on Highway 80 East in Phenix City when an SUV rear-ended a semi-truck, officials said.

Officials with the Russell County Coroner’s office report that Ami Napier, 32, and Jimmy Napier Jr., 33, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two minor children who were in the rear of the Napier’s vehicle were airlifted to an Atlanta hospital with serious injuries. One of the minor children later died at the hospital.

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
