A tractor trailer driver was killed Tuesday in a fiery wreck after his truck struck a tree, Alabama state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, and claimed the life of a Pooler, Georgia, man.

Kester Bruton, 70, was fatally injured when the 2007 Volvo tractor trailer that he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.

Bruton was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Interstate 59 near the 188 mile marker, approximately 5 miles north of Attalla, in Etowah County.
