The former Alabama beauty queen accused of a murder-for-hire plot to kill her estranged husband told a New York newspaper that the ordeal has “been really tough.”

Linda Shiver spoke with a reporter from the New York Post Friday as she checked in with Bahama court officials as a condition of her bail.

Shiver, 36, is accused of plotting with her alleged lover, Adrian Bethel, and another man, Faron Newbold, to kill Robert Shiver.

The trio was arrested last month after police investigators said they stumbled upon messages on Newbold’s phone indicating the murder plot.

Linda and Robert Shiver met while they both attended Auburn University. He played football for Auburn and had a brief career in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons.

Now he is an executive with an insurance company in Thomasville, Georgia.

She was Miss Houston County and a runner up in another pageant.
