An Alabama man was arrested Thursday after police said shot and and killed a woman during an argument, leaving her dead body in the front yard of her home.

Troy police said the shooting happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 100 block of North Ridge Circle.

Arriving officers found 59-year-old Essie B. Meadows dead in her front yard.

Investigators determined that Larvy Woods, 78, was the alleged shooter. He was arrested in the mobile home park where Meadows was found shot to death. He has been charged with murder and held without bond.

The pair were apparently acquainted and the shooting happened during a domestic dispute.
