Alabama Skies: Tropics firing up as NHC monitors three systems

The high temperature Wednesday isn’t the only thing heating up as the National Hurricane Center is now monitoring three disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean.

One system is southwest of Bermuda, one is north of South America, and one is west of Africa. The good news about each system is none has much of a chance of developing into something stronger within the next few days.

Temperatures across Alabama will be in the upper-90s Wednesday with increasing humidity levels. Some of us will have heat index values more than 100 degrees. It will remain mostly dry, but there is a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm across most of the state.

North Alabama

Sunny with a high near 95 and heat index of 101. Overnight, partly cloudy with a low of 73.

Central Alabama

Sunny with a high near 97. A slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. A few more showers and storms are possible in the evening, then clear Wednesday night. Low of 73.

South Alabama

Sunny with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. High near 98. Partly cloudy overnight with a low of 72.

Gulf Coast

Mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorms in the afternoon. Wednesday night, mostly clear with a low of 73.
