Accused Alabama murderer killed his mother’s alleged rapist, court documents suggest

An Alabama man accused of murder may have been seeking revenge on his mother’s alleged rapist, court documents show.

Charles Theodore Spears, 33, of Huntsville, is charged with the murder of Ronald Morgan, 61, of Union Hill.

Morgan was found shot to death on his property, his body was found sitting in a chair inside a shed.

The investigation led police to Spears.

Court documents suggest the possible motive for the murder was revenge.

A witness told investigators that Spears admitted to the shooting and explained the reason was because his mother told him that Morgan raped her when she was 13 years old.

Spears’ mother corroborated the story to investigators. Spears remain in custody in the Morgan County Jail.
