A man died Monday after struggling underwater while swimming at an Alabama state park lake.

Jeremy Bartalez, 21, was swimming midday on Monday at the Oak Mountain State Park when he apparently got into deep water and began to struggle.

He was pulled from the water and resuscitated and taken to a local hospital, but died later in the day, officials said of having too much fluid in his lungs and from suffering from a lack of oxygen to his brain, the county coroner told WBRC-TV.
