One killed, two injured when truck strikes 18-wheeler on Alabama highway, troopers report

A man was killed and two others injured Thursday when a commercial truck struck a parked 18-wheeler truck, Alabama state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a West Hempstead, N.Y. man.

Kaysohn T. Baker, 32, was fatally injured when the 2015 International Durastar that he was a passenger in, left the roadway and struck a parked 2017 Peterbilt tractor trailer that was occupied by William J. Lewis, 58, of Cartersville, Ga.

Lewis was injured and transported to Dekalb Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the International, Marvin A. Campbell, 36, of Chattanooga, Tenn., was injured and transported to Erlanger Hospital for treatment.

A 15-year-old juvenile passenger in the International was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on Interstate 59 near Dekalb County 608, approximately one mile north of Fort Payne, in Dekalb County.
