An Alabama man is charged after police say he killed his dog with a knife, then attempted to revive it with an air compressor.

Prisco Hernandez, 34, has been charged with animal cruelty after police say he stabbed his dog to death and then made a futile attempt to revive the dog with an air compressor, WHNT-TV reported.

Prisco drove himself on Sunday to the Russellville police department to turn himself in for stabbing the dog. He was charged with DUI by Russellville police.

Since Prisco’s residence was in Franklin County, the police called the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to report what they knew.

A deputy visited Prisco’s trailer and found the dog, still alive at the time, along with lots of blood and a bloody kitchen knife.

Sheriff’s deputies charged him with aggravated cruelty to animals. Investigators said Prisco told them he attempted to use an air compressor to revive the animal.
