Alabama Skies: Oh look! More severe storms possible Friday.

We’re still stuck in the pattern of storms and again have the chance for some severe weather in the southern half of the state. In the northern half, most of the day should be sunny and breezy with only a few showers and storms.

For anyone heading to the beaches for the holiday weekend, it looks like Friday may be a washout with plenty more rain in the next few days. The National Weather Service is also warning of a high danger of rip currents in the Gulf. Review safety tips before heading to the beach.

Central and south Alabama are under a Level 2 severe risk Friday and Friday night.

North Alabama

Mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. High near 88. A shower or storm is possible in the evening, then becoming mostly clear. Low of 66.

Central Alabama

Partly sunny with a couple of showers or storms possible in the late afternoon and evening. High near 85. Partly cloudy overnight with a low of 65.

South Alabama

Cloudy, then becoming sunny. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon and evening. Some storms could be severe. High near 88. Mostly cloudy Friday night with a low of 68.

Gulf Coast

Mostly cloudy with showers and storms likely. Some of the storms could be severe. High of 89. Showers and storms continue overnight. Low of 71.
