Published 7:27 am Wednesday, June 14, 2023
A rare Level 4 risk for severe weather has been issued for parts of Alabama today. Today’s weather event is expected to be more like a springtime severe outbreak, not the normal thunderstorms we usually have in June.
A Level 4 covers much of central and south Alabama and includes Demopolis, Selma, Montgomery, Auburn, Troy, and Eufaula. Damaging winds up to 80 miles per hour, large hail, and tornadoes are possible.
A Level 3 includes Tuscaloosa, Clanton, Butler, Camden, Burnt Corn, Greenville, Andalusia, and Alexander City. Damaging winds up to 70 miles per hour, large hail, and tornadoes are all possible.
A Level 2 covers most of the rest of the state. The same risks are possible, but not as widespread.
