An Alabama man who was shot last month in what police say was a road rage incident died Monday night.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the victim was Joseph Keith Alexander, 54, of Gardendale.

He was pronounced dead Monday night at UAB Hospital where he had been treated since the May 16 shooting.

The road rage incident happened at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Narrows Road in Jefferson County. Alexander was reported shot once in the stomach.

Investigators said they believe Javier Brykese Burney was the shooter. Investigators are searching for Burney.
