If you’re headed to the beaches this weekend, be sure to have some alternatives for the next several afternoons to keep everyone entertained in case of storms. We’re looking at a better-than-average chance of storms in southern Alabama and the Gulf Coast counties for the next few days.
Northern and central regions of the state should be nice much of the day on Saturday. There are slight rain chances Saturday, but Sunday could bring some severe weather, especially for the far northern parts of the state as a cold front enters the region. A Level 2 risk includes Athens, Florence, and Russellville. A Level 1 risk includes Huntsville, Decatur, Cullman, Gadsden, Birmingham, Hamilton, and Tuscaloosa. Both risk areas could have severe storms, destructive winds, large hail, and torrential rainfall Sunday afternoon and night.
North Alabama
Sunny with a high near 89. A slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm overnight with a low of 66.
Central Alabama
Mostly sunny with a chance of a shower or thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. High of 90. A couple showers possible Saturday night. Low of 67.
South Alabama
