An Alabama man was killed Wednesday morning when the car he was driving struck a tree and overturned, state troopers reported.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 9:27 a.m. Wednesday, and claimed the life of a Cordova man.

Michael T. Foster, 40, was fatally injured when the 2011 Nissan Altima he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree then overturned.

Foster was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene, troopers said.

The crash occurred on Alabama 5 near the 165-mile marker, approximately 2 miles south of Jasper, in Walker County.
