Alabama Skies: Dry for most areas, but heavy rain and storms could impact one region

Most areas of the state will be hot and steamy Wednesday, but vacationers on the Gulf Coast should have a plan B in case of widespread showers and thunderstorms.

Wednesday will be mostly dry and breezy for the northern third of the state while the central region could have a shower or two develop. Some gusty breezes are also possible.

North Alabama

Sunny with a high of 89 with wind gusts up to 15 miles per hour. A slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm overnight with a low of 64.

Central Alabama

Sunny with a slight chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm in the late afternoon and evening. High of 91. Partly cloudy Wednesday night with a low of 64.

South Alabama

Fog early, then mostly sunny. An isolated shower or thunderstorm could develop in the afternoon and evening. High of 90. A stray shower or two overnight. Low of 66.

Gulf Coast

Mostly sunny in the morning then showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Some heavy showers possible. High of 86. Wednesday night, a few showers and storms are possible. Low of 69.
