An Alabama woman apparently pulled her daughter out of the grasp of an alleged kidnapper Sunday, sheriff’s deputies reported.

Mobile County Sheriff’s Office investigators said a woman called to report an attempted kidnapping Sunday evening in Wilmer, Alabama.

Deputies were called after the woman said she spotted a man attempting to convince her child to leave with him. The mother ran up and pulled the child away from the suspect’s grip, she told investigators.

Based on their investigation, deputies arrested Paul Patrick Samson, 64, on Tuesday and charged him with attempted kidnapping, second degree.

Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch said in a written release that more charges may be pending based on information that surfaced after Samson’s arrest.

“We have received several calls about Samson after his arrest,” Burch said. “If you see something, say something. Because of this mother’s quick response to reporting, we were able to identify the suspect and take him into custody.”
